We have the following positions open:

Metallurgical Engineer

We are looking for a Senior/Principal Level Materials Scientist or Materials Engineer with extensive educational and materials failure analysis experience.

The candidate will perform failure analysis, forensic evaluations and root cause of failed consumer and industrial products. The candidate will be required to handle diverse failures such as: industrial machinery and accompanying components, all types of vehicle mechanical components as well as building materials ranging from cementitious products to plastic pipes. Experience in leading and coordinating joint metallurgical laboratory analyses, including SEM-EDS, FTIR, DSC and X-Ray examinations is required. A strong expertise in fractography and intimate knowledge of failures due to environmental exposure such as Environmental Stress Cracking, Stress Corrosion Cracking and Corrosion-Fatigue is required, including expert witness testimony in deposition and trial. The candidate must have knowledge of national codes and standards related to design, fabrication, and testing of various products. Preparing oral and written reports that document observations, analysis, and conclusions will be required. Other duties include gathering photographic evidence, conducting investigations to document operating conditions and overseeing laboratory testing by third parties.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Materials Science or Materials Engineering with 5-10 years experience. At least 5 of those years must have been acquired outside of academia.
  • P.E. License beneficial but not required if candidate has Ph.D.
  • Manufacturing experience.
  • Field experience acquired outside of laboratory setting.
  • High experience in the following materials systems:
    • Polymeric materials
    • Metallic materials steel, aluminum and coppers
    • Ceramic and refractory materials
    • Cementitious
    • Polymeric composites
    • Polymeric coatings
    • Stainless and high temperature alloys
  • Ability to interface with customers
  • Independent judgment.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have high competence of a variety of computer software applications (MSWord, Excel, and PowerPoint)
